the SF Ranch

Wilma and Steve Fleming built a legacy rooted in integrity, hard work, and a deep respect for livestock. Their journey began in 1959 in Kansas, where they raised champion AQHA Quarter Horses and became a trusted name in the equine world. That same dedication carried into the Angus industry when they transitioned into raising Registered Angus cattle in 1997.

Together, they laid the foundation for the SF Ranch’s breeding program, focusing on strong maternal lines, superior carcass quality, and dependable EPDs. Their influence continues to guide every decision made on the ranch today.

Driving the SF Ranch into the Future

In 2024, Steve and Virginia Fleming officially teamed up to take the SF Ranch into its next era, combining their expertise in Angus genetics, ranch management, and livestock innovation. With decades of experience rooted in ranching and breeding, their shared vision focuses on expanding the SF Ranch’s reputation for elite registered Angus cattle, superior EPDs, and forward-thinking breeding strategies.

Steve brings his technical precision, utilizing ultrasound technology to evaluate herd genetics and enhance breeding decisions. As a Texas A&M Animal Science graduate, he applies cutting-edge knowledge to improve herd performance and provide ultrasound services to ranchers across Texas.

Virginia, a lifelong horsewoman and breeder, leverages her deep understanding of bloodline improvement to refine the SF Ranch’s cattle selection process. With years of experience shaping herd genetics, she remains committed to advancing maternal strength, carcass quality, and breed excellence.

Together, Steve and Virginia Fleming are ensuring that the SF Ranch remains a leader in the Angus industry, honoring their family’s ranching legacy while forging new paths for success.

Virginia M. Fleming- Lifelong Horsewoman & Angus Cattle Breeder

From an early age, Virginia M. Fleming demonstrated a passion for ranching and animal husbandry. She entered the AQHA showing pen at just six years old, refining her skills as an equestrian and contributing to the family’s champion Quarter Horse program. As she grew, Virginia remained deeply involved in the horse business, gaining hands-on experience in breeding, training, and livestock management.

In 1997, Virginia transitioned into the registered Angus business, carrying forward her commitment to quality bloodlines and superior genetics. Now an integral part of the the SF Ranch, she plays a key role in advancing the herd’s lineage, ensuring that each generation of cattle reflects the breed’s best traits—exceptional maternal ability, strong carcass quality, and top-tier performance.

Virginia’s dedication to improving Angus genetics and her deep-rooted ranching experience make her a driving force in shaping the future of the the SF Ranch and the Texas registered cattle industry.

Steve M. Fleming II

Angus Cattle Breeder & Ultrasound Specialist

Raised in a family with deep ranching roots, Steve M. Fleming II has been immersed in the livestock industry from an early age. Growing up alongside AQHA champion Quarter Horses and registered Angus cattle, he developed a keen eye for superior genetics and performance-driven breeding strategies.

A graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Animal Science, Steve combines academic expertise with hands-on experience to enhance the breeding programs at the SF Ranch.

His proficiency in cattle ultrasound technology allows him to accurately evaluate Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs), ensuring genetic advancements and optimized herd selection.

Beyond the SF Ranch, Steve extends his expertise to the public, offering professional ultrasound services to help ranchers make informed breeding decisions. His ability to analyze carcass traits and reproductive efficiency reinforces his commitment to advancing the Angus breed and supporting fellow cattle producers.

With a deep respect for tradition and a vision for continuous improvement, Steve is driving the SF Ranch into its next era—focusing on superior EPDs, ranch efficiency, and industry leadership.
